ahhhh airplane

I guess it's been awhile. It's not that exciting things aren't happening all the time either! Lucas continues to amaze us everyday with his receptive spoken language. He's also starting to associate objects with vocal sounds. He has begun to say "ahhhhhh" with his airplane, which is one of the learn to listen sounds, and one of the sounds I say to him constantly. Here's a short video illustrating that (he gets a little excited at the end!):

He also seems to make a "mi mi mi" sound when he wants his milk. The last few days we've been hearing an emergence of /d/ - not quite dadadada, but I think it will be there soon.

Lastly - Nate and I decided last night that it will NEVER get old to watch our deaf son dance to music every time he hears it. It's always unprompted too. He dances because he HEARS the music! Amazing... I never thought I'd see that day. It makes me cry just thinking about it. Enjoy this fun little video too! (it's not captioned, because there's no talking, just music and "dancing!")

Ok, I'm bawling over here. That is truly amazing. I love how he moved the airplane while making the sound "AHHHHHHHHHHH". Dance Lucas!! All these things we thought we'd never see our kiddos do. AMAZING. Thanks so much for sharing.
PS What is that toy on the fridge thats making music? A Farm with magnetic inserts?

I am so happy for Lucas and your family. It is such a blessing being able to watch your child who is deaf talking and listening. I love hearing Gavin say things and the joy to his face he gets when he hears sounds. Gavin the last two weeks have said ssss! Perfectly! I dont know who left the mean comment to me. They marked it anonymous. I wish they would have had enough guts to sign their name to it. They are just trying to push what they think is best for Gavin! when Hello I'm Gavin's Mom! Not them! Let me raise my son! You Know! I'm sure you agree! I would never even dare say some of the things these people said to me. It was lame! But oh well! I know Gavin is doing great! I trust his audiolist and avt and slp, I take Gavin to. I know they would tell me if they thought Gavin wasn't doing great! They were so mad when I told them what this idiot said! Oh well Have a Good day!
