Can you believe it? I almost fell over. I'm surprised I sound so unsurprised on the video. He did the same thing for cracker (which at the moment is his most favorite food - Ritz crackers, specifically). He knows I keep them behind where he's sitting in the video, and when I said it, he completely turned around and pointed. How exciting!
Here's another video that shows two different things. First, how he "dances" when he hears music (he does it much better than that, but it at least illustrates the point), and how he "signs" uh-oh. I don't know if it's REALLY how you sign uh-oh, but that's at least his *home sign* for it. It was suggested by his speech therapist (who signs also, incidentally). I think she's amazing, by the way.
So, the turn taking we've been practicing for the past year paid off today. I waited for a response, and I got one. I need to learn to be more patient more often.

Great!! What a cutie!
Great videos -- he's adorable and learning so fast! Thanks for always captioning them so beautifully, too, so everyone can enjoy watching Lucas bloom!
Wow, wow, wow! He definitely understood milk! He is sure coming along quickly with his listening skills!
GREAT!!!!
He's learning so quickly!! Way to go Lucas! The "uh oh" sign is adorable, and a great idea by the way! keep up the good work!!
Adorable! And congrats on the progress!!! Yeah, I've had to train myself to give Ben lots of response time. Sometimes he'll ponder something for almost 30 seconds before he'll respond, especially if it's pretty challenging. Our TOD doesn't get that at all -- if he doesn't answer perfectly in 2 seconds, she just answers for him; very discouraging.
WOW WOW WOW - that's fantastic - don't you love it when you are completely caught off guard :-) I'm so excited for you!
He is just taking off! I love it! My therapist in Texas always had to remind me of the "power of pause"! I always want to talk, talk, talk! My therapist here calls it the Ling 7 ... ah, ooo, ee, mmm, sh, s and SILENCE to let them respond! haha! LOVE how he's saying mama too! What wonderful moments to capture on video!
so great!!!
Wow, he is doing great to understand "milk" so soon after his activation! He's adorable.
I love the home "uh oh" sign.
Hi Jenny and Lucas,
I enjoyed your videos very much! You must be so proud, I am happy for you. Lots of kisses from Paris!

Love that you have captioned your videos! :) I turned off the music though so I could hear you and Lucas. Glad he is making progress with his cochlear implant. When he grows up, he will have this blog and your videos to look back on and see how far he has come.
