Here's a spontaneous language sample from a few weeks ago. I wanted to record him talking about going to the beach, as that seems to be his highlight from this summer. Enjoy!
Oh my gosh Jen that's absolutely amazing!!! He is so dang cute and I just love him to pieces! I can't wait for Aiden to start spouting out conversational speech like this! Way to go Lucas!!!!
Gotta love a boy who knows exactly where the coffee machine is! I love his little voice! I hope you guys get to go to the beach next summer and walk on the boardwalk and get popcorn (and coffee) again! :-D
@Leah - the funny thing is that we don't drink coffee at all. I put the machine up high in our room, but my parents came and stayed over for a night, and he thought their machine was really cool. I'm not sure they used theirs either. The thing that boy remembers though... :)
Lucas was born with profound bilateral sensorineural hearing loss to two hearing parents. He wore hearing aids starting at 3 months, but he got no benefit from them, as we soon found out. He received a cochlear implant in his right ear 3 days after his first birthday. His second ear was implanted 1 month before his third birthday. Cochlear implants have changed Lucas's life immensely. This site was developed to chronicle his life and progress learning to listen and speak!
mother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, in-law, friend, traveler, teacher, advocate, therapist, polyglot... that about sums things up! Just trying to figure out this thing called life...
